Midcoast Actors’ holds ‘Curious’ auditions

Jan 06, 2019

Belfast — Auditions for Midcoast Actors' Studio's production of “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” will take place Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 19 and 20, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Troy A. Howard Middle School, 173 Lincolnville Ave./Route 52. Callbacks will be Monday, Jan. 28, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script and some movement, so wear comfortable clothes. All roles are available, with the exceptions of Christopher and Ed.

Rehearsals will start March 1 and be on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays from 6 to 9 p.m. at THMS. Some alternate rehearsal dates may be scheduled, as well.  Performances will be April 26 through May 5 at the Crosby Center.

Seven minutes after midnight, 15-year-old Christopher stands beside Mrs. Shears' dead dog — and under suspicion. He records each fact, to solve the mystery of who murdered Wellington. Christopher has an extraordinary brain and is exceptional at math, but is ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. He has never ventured alone beyond the end of his road; he detests being touched; and he distrusts strangers. His detective work, forbidden by his father, Ed, takes him on a frightening journey that turns his world upside-down.

Roles available include Judy Boone, female age range late 30s to 45; Siobhan, female age range 30-60; Mrs. Shears, female flexible age range 30s to 50; Roger Shears, male flexible age range 30s to 50; policeman, male flexible age range 20s to 40s; Rev. Peters, male flexible age range 45 to 60s; and Mrs. Alexander, female age range 50s to 70s. Many additional smaller roles will divided up among the cast members.
