Midcoast artists make ‘Art2018’ grade

Hallowell — On May 1, curator Bethany Engstrom of Belfast judged the 23rd annual juried art exhibition at the Harlow Gallery; 38 works of art by 20 Maine artists were selected to be included in the exhibition out of a total of 415 works submitted by 150 artists.

“Art2018” will run Wednesday, May 9, through June 2 at the Harlow’s new location, 100 Water St. The opening reception is Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m., with prizes announced at 6 p.m. Gallery hours are Wednesdays through Saturdays from noon to 6 p.m.; and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.

Among the artists accepted into “Art2018” are Appleton’s David Allen and Maxwell Nolin of Brooks. "Art2018" prizes are sponsored by a variety of businesses. The membership-based 501(c)3 nonprofit’s programming is funded in part by a Partnership Grant from the Maine Arts Commission. For more information, visit harlowgallery.org or call 622-3813.
