Midcoast athletes, coaches honored by Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference

All-conference, all-academic notoriety earned by area student-athletes

Augusta — The Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference unveiled its Class A and Class B all-conference and all-academic honorees for the fall and student-athletes and coaches from Medomak Valley of Waldoboro, Belfast, Camden Hills of Rockport, Mount View of Thorndike and Oceanside of Rockland/Thomaston collected end-of-season notoriety.

Three Midcoast coaches — Belfast’s Chris Lavalle and Chip Lagerbom and Camden Hills’ Helen Bonzi — earned coach-of-the-year honors, while Camden Hills’ Grace Iltis and Belfast’s Kelsey Mehuren received player/runner-of-the-year distinction.

Additionally, Mount View's Dale Hustus was the top coach in one region of Class B soccer.

The all-conference and all-academic selections for Midcoast student-athletes (all information comes from league) includes:

Field hockey

Class A second team — Camden Hills’ Megan Gordon and Jenna Stearns.

Class A all-academic — Camden Hills’ Megan Gordon and Jenna Stearns.

Class B first team — Belfast’s Kelsey Mehuren and Amy Gaiero.

Class B second team — Belfast’s Maya Cunningham, Mount View’s Rachelle Ravin and Oceanside’s Amanda Frost.

Class B all-academic — Belfast’s Kelsey Mehuren and Samantha Hills; Mount View’s Alexis Bowman; and Oceanside’s Erin Dugan and Taylor Hamlin.

Class B player of the year — Belfast’s Kelsey Mehuren.

Boys soccer

Class A first team — Camden Hills’ Lucas Boetsch, Will Nickerson and Andy Pitcairn.

Class A all-academic — Camden Hills’ Elliot Matlack and Jack Nathan.

Class B North — Mount View’s Elijah Allen and Josh Larrabee.

Class B North coach of the year — Mount View’s Dale Hustus.

Class B South — Medomak Valley’s Wyatt Post.

Class B all-academic — Belfast’s Evan Kennedy and Skylar Perkins; Mount View’s Josh Larrabee and Max Tomlin; and Oceanside’s Kellar Lessard, Josh Peaco and Molly Spencer.

Girls soccer

Class A first team — Camden Hills’ Kristina Kelly, Kassie Krul, Eliza Roy and Kaylyn Krul.

Class A second team — Camden Hills’ Grace Blackwell.

Class A all-academic — Camden Hills’ Sarah Contento, Meghan Gallagher, Taylor Johnson, Camryn Langille, Lauren Miller and Claire Pierce.

Class B North — Belfast’s Junne Robertson-McIntire and Mount View's Elise Brown.

Class B North coach of the year — Belfast’s Chris Lavalle.

Class B South — Medomak Valley’s Jane Vannoy and Oceanside’s Gabby Simmons.

Class B all-academic — Belfast’s Alison DeFeo, Amber Beaulieu and Olivia Lovejoy; Mount View’s Kristen Ravin, Monica Wren, Mariah Wren, Elise Brown, Hannah Clifford, Reilly Sullivan and Katelin Bennett; and Oceanside’s Cassidy Boynton and Gabby Simmons.

Boys cross country

Class A all-academic — Camden Hills’ Adam Bifulco, Stephen Crawford, Leo Kalajian and Will Karod.

Class B all-conference — Belfast’s Ricky Smith, Brendan Moline and Eamon Goscinski.

Class B all-academic — Belfast’s Christian Sukeforth and Ricky Smith; and Oceanside’s Patrick Corcoran.

Girls cross country

Class A all-conference — Camden Hills’ Grace Iltis, Augusta Stockman and Miranda Dunton.

Class A runner of the year — Camden Hills’ Grace Iltis.

Class A coach of the year — Camden Hills’ Helen Bonzi.

Class A all-academic — Camden Hills’ Katherine Dailey, MiAe DeWaard, Natalie Owre and Allison Wells.

Class B all-conference — Belfast’s Lillie Mitchell and Medomak Valley’s Serena Blasius.

Class B all-academic — Belfast’s Emily Jolliffe, Starr Warner and Zoe Deans; and Oceanside’s Molly Davis.

Golf

Class A all-conference — Camden Hills’ Cole Anderson and Sam Conlan.

Class A all-academic — Camden Hills’ Braden Fisher.

Class B all-conference — Belfast’s Alexia Sweet and Kristina Walker; and Medomak Valley’s Brent Stewart and Carson Murphy.

Class B all-academic — Belfast’s Alexia Sweet and Kristina Walker.

Coach of the year (Coastal Division) — Belfast’s Chip Lagerbom.
