Thomaston — The Midcoast Babe Ruth 15-year-olds demonstrated considerable talent, grit and determination, with strong, timely hitting, solid pitching, aggressive base running and a competitive spirit, but, despite stellar glove work from time to time, consistent defense eluded the locals and, ultimately, proved their downfall in the District 2 baseball tournament.

Midcoast finished the four-day, five-team, double-elimination event with two wins and two losses.

Midcoast, which won its first two games and lost its next two, outscored opponents 34-28 in four diamond affairs.
