Weather Brief Dec 13, 2019

Midcoast Forecast - December 13, 2019

Clouds and temperatures have been on the increase Friday as our next storm system moves in from the south. An area of low pressure will move through New England on Saturday bringing a swath of soaking rain as temperatures continue to warm into the 50s. Rain will begin during the early morning hours on Saturday and continue through the day falling heavy at times. Rain will taper off Saturday night as the low lift to the north leaving anywhere from 1" to 2.5" of rainfall in it's wake across the Midcoast. The heavy rain coupled with melting snow pack has prompted a Flood Watch for the Midcoast with streams and rivers expected to rise through the weekend. Along with the wet weather, winds will be brisk out of the east and southeast through the day with sustained winds of 15mph to 25mph with gusts up to 35mph along the coast. Winds will shift out of the west on Sunday as the storm begins to move out, and colder and drier air begins to return to the region staying strong through the day. Highs will dip into the upper 30s to low 40s Sunday then into the 20s on Monday as skies gradually clear. The cold air will set the stage for accumulating snow on Tuesday as another wave of low pressure passes to the south with 1" to 3" of accumulations possible, with some sleet along the coast. We'll see clearing into the mid to late week as temperatures continue to drop.
