Weather Brief Feb 04, 2019

Midcoast Forecast - February 4, 2019

After a round of light snow moved through Sunday night our weather is feeling more spring like Monday with sunshine returning as highs climbed into the 40s to near 50 in some spots. The warmth is the result of a warm front that lifted over the state Sunday night that touched off the winter weather and switched our winds out of the south, pumping in the mild air. This will continue through Monday night and Tuesday but a cool down is on the way. A cold front will move in from the west Tuesday pushing a line of rain showers through during the morning followed by clearing into the afternoon. Cold air will push in during the overnight and into Wednesday taking highs back down into the 20s and 30s. The cool air will set the stage for a mix of sleet and snow Wednesday night and into Thursday but warm air will push in again changing this to rain late in the day. We'll see a break in the action Thursday night followed by another round of rain on Friday with temperatures climbing to around 50. The winter cold will return for the weekend as Canadian high pressure drops in with highs dropping to the teens and 20s and lows in the teens and single digits.
