Weather Brief Jan 16, 2020

Midcoast Forecast - January 16, 2020 PM

Snowfall will come to an end early Thursday night leaving accumulations of 3" to 6" with locally higher amounts. The snow will be followed by brisk northwest winds ushering in a blast of arctic air with lows dropping into the single digits to near 0 by early Friday with wind chill values of -5 to -15. We'll see highs on Friday only reaching the low teens despite sunny skies with wind chill values holding near or below 0. The brisk winds will also lead to some blowing and drifting of our recent snowfall.

We'll see sunshine, bitter cold. and lighter winds to begin the weekend but clouds will increase through Saturday as another winter storm moves in from the west. Snow will begin Saturday night and continue into Sunday morning, possibly mixing with rain at times along the coast. This storm will likely bring similar snowfall to what we saw Thursday with an early projection of 4" to 8" possible. We'll see temperatures rebound back into the 30s on Sunday followed by a sunny but colder stretch for next week as Canadian high pressure holds over the region.
