Weather Brief Mar 18, 2020

Midcoast Forecast - March 18, 2020

Wednesday has been a great day to get outdoors, breath in some fresh air, and take a moment to clear your head and meditate. High pressure over the region has lead to abundant sunshine with temperatures rebounding back into the mid 40s. Winds have been breezy out of the west through the day adding some chill to the air. The sunshine will be going away for the late week with clouds and showers moving in.

A warm front will approach from the southwest for the first day of spring, Thursday, pushing in clouds along with pockets of light rain showers that may mix with light snow across interior portions of the state. Highs will reach the low 40s again despite the gray skies and wet weather. The warm front will lift north through New England on Friday ushering in milder air with temperatures steadily climbing, reaching the 50s by late in the day with ongoing periods of light rain showers. Rainfall totals through the late week will be fairly low, ranging between 1/4" to 1/2".

A cold front will sweep through the region from west to east Friday night clearing out clouds and showers. High pressure will build in from the west behind the front on Saturday resulting in sunny skies and breezy west winds as colder air returns with highs dipping into the 30s and lows into the teens and 20s. The sunny weather will continue through the weekend and into Monday followed by clouds and warmer weather heading into the mid week.
