Midcoast resident named new district director for Maine SBA

Apr 26, 2021

The U.S. Small Business Administration has named Midcoast resident Diane Sturgeon as district director for the Maine District Office. Sturgeon, a resident of Searsmont, has worked for the SBA for nine years in the Maine District Office, and most recently served as the deputy district director.

Sturgeon joined the SBA in April of 2012 as a lender relations specialist and has more than 10 years of banking experience, having worked in a variety of roles for both community and national lenders.

A graduate of the University of Maine with a degree in secondary education, Sturgeon has completed the National Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders Fundamentals Diploma Program and the NAGGL Advanced Fundamentals classes, and has participated in the Northern New England School of Banking. She was born and raised in Maine.

She succeeds Amy Bassett, who held the position of district director for Maine from January 2017 until December 2020.

In her role as district director, Sturgeon will be responsible for the delivery of SBA’s financial assistance, entrepreneurial development, and contracting programs throughout the state of Maine.
