Ministry Update- from the desk of Roy Roden

Good morning,

I have taken the month of July off.  It actually feels like I am on a real vacation..…No stress, no expectations, lots of free time with no agenda or obligations. LOL. It can be tough though for someone who is passion driven. (Can you feel my pain?)

The time, however, is being used constructively. Before my wife and I had the carpets replaced last week, I re-painted the rooms downstairs and in the ministry office. The new look for the media studio is coming right along - the idea is to create an inviting “home friendly” studio. It includes a fireplace, mini library and a couple of sitting chairs, a couch, etc. The goal is to prepare for media ministry expansion.

A lot of hiking is also on the agenda for July and August, as well as traveling the coastal areas of Maine. Falling naturally within this time is visiting various pastors/leaders/friends and Churches to renew and develop relationships.

THE BEST PART - Is that I am spending more time with Jesus. My quest is to not only draw closer to the Lord but also to step it up to a higher level of receiving a Word of Knowledge and a Word of Wisdom for others. As you know, Shawn Boltz is setting the bar for ministering the Word of Knowledge. I am pursuing this level of operation, but also the Word of Wisdom. Why Wisdom?

Knowledge provides information, but it contains no direction, insight or counsel. It does reveal in a powerful way to others, that the Father sees them and knows them. Wisdom is to know what to do with knowledge and how to proceed forward in life- whether it is in ministry finances or family. A Word of Wisdom not only can prevent tragedy and serious mistakes but also like King Solomon; Wisdom has the power to lead a Nation to prosper in every area of life.

My quest is to receive and to give a SPECIFIC word of Wisdom from Christ that will define a direction, path, and insight that will prosper God’s people and His Kingdom. The Scripture tells us that Wisdom is the principle thing. We are to seek her more than gold and silver… See Proverbs 2:4, Proverbs 16:16.

The natural result of drawing closer to the Lord and abiding in Christ and His love is to partake of His mind, His thoughts, His wisdom, and understanding, as it is written, “…You are in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom…. That, according as it is written, He that boasts let Him glory in the Lord (1 Cor. 1:30-31).

God has made His Son, wisdom unto us. Therefore, my identity is not validated by my spirituality, titles or influence, but in God’s love. Nor do I boast or measure the success of my life in regards to the size of our ministry or even in the degree of prosperity, for it is written, if we are to boast, it is that we know the Lord.

“But him who boasts let him boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord” (Jer. 9:24).

I have seen to many measure their success by the size of their congregation, ministry, and influence. I have seen many examples of people pursuing gifts for power and influence, as well as the leaders and ministries who leverage their position for the purpose of control, to have the influence and recognition. The Father’s heart is that we know Him and His Son better. In Him, we have true success, for He is our victory and our life, for in “IN Him we move, live and have our being” (Acts 17:28)

AND IN TURN, as I seek the Lord and His Wisdom, I am giving what I receive to others. What has surprised me is that my heavenly Father, is in turn, blessing me with favor, prosperity, life-giving relationships and so on. It is true that it is more blessed to give than to receive. The more I receive from the Lord and give to others; the more heaven opens to bless me with life – His life. His presence is not only addictive but life-giving. Jesus is our prime example who gave His life that we may have eternal life, as well as the more abundant life in this life.

Surely every day is a new day – new life is here. Everything is changing because we serve the Lord of change. We are in a season where God is moving in our midst. His passion is to redeem, restore, renew and recover, not only that which is lost or stolen, but also to restore His people to their true inheritance - the more abundant life that is ours in Christ. The way supernatural life and Church life should be.

Are you experiencing change? Are things moving contrary to where you would like to see it go, or that is making you a bit uncomfortable? Take heart; you are being prepared during this time for the next season. It’s time to elevate – to draw nearer to the Lord, to rise and shine with the light of His glory.

In His heart and love,

Roy Roden
