Bucksport — A Bucksport woman who went missing for a week after a fire at her home was arrested Nov. 19 and charged with setting the blaze.

According to the State Fire Marshal's Office, 56-year-old Aza Jerome was released from Eastern Maine Medical Center Tuesday night and later taken to Hancock County Jail, where she was charged with arson.

A state police press release said Jerome was located Tuesday at Craig Brook National Fish Hatchery in Orland after an extensive search. Police said the fish hatchery is 12 miles from her home on Town Farm Road in Bucksport.

She was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center for evaluation and released last night. Police said it was unclear where she stayed during her week-long absence, but added that she probably sought shelter in some buildings in the area.

Fire investigators say the fire caused $50,000 in damage to the house and investigators say the blaze was set inside the home. A second fire was set in a shed on the property.
