Monroe Lodge presents 'First Day of School Bags'

Sep 02, 2012

Members of Monroe Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge no. 136 and Loyal Rebekah Lodge no. 92, both of Monroe, made their annual presentation of "First Day of School Bags" to the K-1 class of Monroe Elementary School.

This is a joint community service project with the Odd Fellows providing the bags each year, and the Rebekahs providing the contents. Students will each receive a bag containing pencils, tissues, glue sticks, erasers, 6 inch rulers, water bottles, safety scissors and other supplies which will help them transition into their school year.

Once again the old adage "It takes a village to raise a child" is proven by the caring folks in Monroe.  I know the children and teachers at the best little school in Maine will appreciate this gift of love!  Faith L. Garrold

This is a wonderful thing they are doing for these little ones.  I can't wait to have them show them off.  Thank you to Monroe Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge no. 136 and the Loyal Rebekah Lodge no. 92.
