Monroe News

By Kimberly Lawson-Tinsman

The Waldo County Woodshed is in need of volunteers to help distribute firewood at the Monroe transfer station on Saturday mornings from November to March. This is one of their busiest sites and we do not currently have anyone to cover it for us this winter. We are flexible on the hours, and it could also be Monday night if that’s more convenient. This would be a great opportunity for high school students to get in their community service hours as well!

Contact Waldo County Woodshed at 338-2692 for more information

Potluck supper

Saturday, Nov. 18, 5 to 8 p.m., there will be a potluck with Speaker Matthew Mayo, local author of “Stranded,” in the community room downstairs at the Monroe Community Church, 28 W. Main St., sponsored by the Monroe Community Library. Feel free to bring your own wine. Non-alcoholic beverages will be available.

Book Club

The Monroe Community Library Book Club meets monthly at the library, 8 Swan Lake Ave., Monroe. The next meeting is Wednesday, Dec. 13, at 11 a.m. For more info, contact Becky Huefner, 525-3067
