Montville News

The Halloween night storm turned out to be quite spectacular around our house. Around 3 o'clock in the morning we were awakened to the sound of a large crash. After walking around the house and investigating, we realized two trees had fallen on our street -- one up the road on the right, the other up the road on the left, our house sitting dark and isolated in the center.

On closer inspection, one tree had fallen on power lines, which caused the pole in front of our house to lean, and not in a good way, which, in turn, pulled the wire off our house.

As I write this on Friday at my office in Belfast with electricity, I wonder when power will be restored back home. Looking up Montville on the CMP website for estimated restoration time, the website says still "assessing."

From the Montville Town Office

Ditching and right-of-way maintenance on town roads will be on the selectmen's agenda for Nov. 4. Residents are welcome to come to listen and/or offer recommendations for prioritizing the expenditure of the remainder of the budget.

Neighbor-4-Neighbor applications for holiday food baskets and gifts are now available at the Town Office. Applications for Christmas baskets/gifts are due Dec. 6. The applications for gifts for children are done on a first-come, first-served basis, so sign up as quickly as possible.
