A small sailboat trailer was taken from Jacques Road in Liberty June 18, beside the Baptist Church. The trailer is distinguishable by its shiny new square axle recently installed. Police have been notified. Send tips to Olivia Olsen at tinyurl.com/yascmnq7.

After growing your hair excessively long during these past few months, sticking close to home and following virus protocols, you now can barely see! Well, luckily, a brand new haircutting-beauty salon is set to open in our community. The Liberty Beauty Bar will be opening July 14 offering haircuts for both men and women. To make an appointment, call or text 649-7462. Owner Nicole Cleaves said she is "excited to open and see you all!"

Cleaves is a cosmetologist with six years' experience, graduating from Capilo Institute in 2014 and opening her own salon in 2020. She lives in Liberty with her husband and two dogs. She specializes in balayage (hand painting hair) and blonding. Her email is libertybeautybar.nicole@gmail.com.

Stylist Sam Peach is from Searsport and a graduate of Mr. Bernard’s School of Hair Fashion. He has eight years of salon experience and specializes in nails, lash extensions, and foiling. His email is libertybeautybar.sam@gmail.com

Appointments can also be made online, at square.site/book/VD9943ED4ZEJW/liberty-beauty-bar-liberty-me.

Grow a Row Pledge

This just in from Montville's Community Resource Connections page. The "Grow a Row Pledge" is a new program for gardeners to support food security in our community. Gardeners are asked to plant an extra row of any (or multiple veggies/fruits) and when harvested, bring to the “Give and Take” tables at the Montville Grange and/or the Liberty AMVETs Hall. From there, families and individuals are welcome to come and take home whatever is there. A simple way to share the bounty!

For more information, contact unitybarnraisers.org/waldocountybounty/, wcbgardens.org/ (to pledge, click under the picture of the carrots) or reach out to Hannah, the program coordinator, nanatha19@gmail.com or 323-5612.

There was a report of a large black bear on Rollins Road in Freedom eating from a bird feeder on Thursday, June 19. Keep your feeders in and your eyes peeled!

And finally, welcoming the youngest Montville resident, George Walter Parenteau, to the planet! Congratulations to Miranda, Jeff, Noah and Esmae. George arrived with a full head of hair — parted on the side — on Monday, June 15, weighing 7 pounds and 19 3/4 inches long. He is reported to be quite "mellow" compared to how rambunctious he was on the inside.

That's about it for this week.

Until next time.
