From the Montville Town Office

The Transfer Station can now accept recyclables again. Thank you all for your patience. Also, please note that the town is going to phase out using cash at the Transfer Station and will institute a sticker system starting Aug. 1, available for purchase through the clerk’s office.

Many of you already do this and you will not see any change. For those of you who have been paying cash, we are sorry for the inconvenience. The sticker system will ultimately save the town time (and therefore money!). Thank you.

The prices will be the same as the bags cost now. The town has contracted with the town of Freedom to use its packer truck now that Montville’s truck will not pass inspection and the price for upgrades is not cost-effective. The agreement with Freedom is contracted for one year and was expected to begin July 18.

Maine Makers Society, located at the former 10-4 Dance Hall, diner and store, is currently open and welcoming folks to check out its locally sourced snacks, art, music and handcrafted goods. According to the website, its address is 804 Acadia Highway (Route 3) in Montville and it is open Thursday through Monday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. (Closed Tuesday and Wednesday).

Graffiti on Fountain Storage

If anyone saw any cars in the Fountain Storage area parking lot Sunday, July 19, just before 5 a.m., please let us know. I'm a fan of artwork, but not this kind. A storage container parked in the center of the parking lot was tagged with graffiti. Contact: facebook.com/profile.php?id=100004657938114 with any information.

Peavey's yard sale

July 25 will be the day for the yard sale at Peavey's parking lot, 784 Route 3. Sale starts at 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. and folks will need to supply their own tables. Set-up fee is $5 and will benefit the Riley H. Boulay Scholarship Fund. Bring a tent for shade if you want. Bathroom will be available for all who set up a table. If interested PM facebook.com/Peaveys-General-Store-109965739032715/.

There will also be a box for bottle/cans to be donated to the scholarship fund. If you have items you wish to donate because you don't want to do a table, PM the Facebook account above and send pictures; all proceeds will go to the scholarship as well.

That's about it for this week.

Until next time.
