Heartfelt condolences, thoughts, and prayers go out to the  family and friends of Martha Bragdon who passed away Sept. 4.

Fire Danger Warning

Montville Fire Department Communications Officer Karen York said in an email this week, "The woods and fields are very dry and wildfires are a huge concern right now. If you see smoke, please report to 911 immediately. We would rather have it turn out to be minor due to quicker response. Delayed reporting allows fire to spread quickly and takes much longer to put out. Thank you always for supporting us."

The Montville Planning Board will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m., at the town office to discuss restarting the 10-4 store and staging events at the site, a proposed gun range in South Montville and a possible expansion by Maritime Energy on Route 3.

The Mount View Community Pep Rally and Chicken BBQ will be held Friday, Sept. 14 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the school complex in Thorndike. All students eat free and community members are $8 per person. Celebrating athletes and recognition for each fall team. Come be Mustang Proud!

Saturday, Sept. 15 at the Mount View Complex.

Boys Soccer, 10 a.m.

Girls Soccer, 11:30 a.m.

Free Rabies Clinic

If you missed the free rabies clinic at the Freedom Town Office on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 9 to 11 a.m., there is another clinic scheduled for Saturday, October 20, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Brooks Fire Station, Route 139.  Dr. Chris Tomalty of Little River Veterinary Hospital will administer the shots.

Rabies shots are free to animal owners residing in Waldo County. Pets from other counties are welcome for a fee of $7.00. Donations will be gratefully accepted.  Please bring all animals on leashes or in portable pet carriers.  It is also important to bring proof of a previous rabies shot so your pet can receive a 3 year rabies certificate.

In addition to the rabies shots, coupon discounts toward the cost of having pets spayed or neutered will be available. For information about the clinics call 852-5033 or 323-6308. The Waldo County Humane Society is also on facebook.

Liberty Fire Department displayed new 'jaws' equipment on their Facebook page. According to post, "this is quicker, lighter, and easy to use. This is a huge asset to have, especially with Route 3 in our town."
