Fishing Derby

The 10th annual Youth Fishing Derby will take place on Saturday, Jan. 26, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lake St. George State Park.

Learn how to ice fish while having some fun outdoors. Fishing traps and bait will be provided for children and there will be an igloo, a hobo cookout demo, and a fat bike rodeo demo.

There will also be a trailer with skis, snowshoes, ice skates and sleds, all available to try for free, as well as a warming hut, hot cocoa, lunch and prizes for all children registered to fish.

Admission to this event is $1.50 for children 12 years and older, and under 12 and over 65 are free! See you there.

Coming in spring

J.A. Bakery is in the process of renovating a section of Peavey's General Store to offer a variety of fresh bakery items. They will also be offering special order wedding cakes, specialty cakes, pies, or "whatever pastry your heart desires!" For more information, search for J.A. Bakery on Facebook.

Coffee and conversation with RSU 3 superintendent

Walker Elementary School will host Superintendent Paul Austin on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 7 a.m. for some coffee and conversation. Come talk about things happening in the district, mingle with community members and enjoy a hot cup of coffee to start your day. The following coffee and conversation event will be at Monroe Elementary School on Friday Jan. 25, at 7 a.m.
