Morrill News

Happy birthday to Royce Place on Feb. 3. Wishing you a wonderful day.

Morrill Fire Department

Chief Pat Scribner reports the department has been active in recent weeks. A crew with Morrill Tanker 35 responded to Fair Haven Camps in Brooks, while Engine 32 set up water supply in the area.

Later that same day, while some were still at the Brooks fire, a call for mutual aid to a trailer fire in Montville was received. The results of the Montville fire were more successful than the loss of the gymnasium at Fair Haven.

On Jan. 27, Engine 32 and Tanker 35 responded with crew to assist Searsmont and others at a two-car garage fire. This series of calls resulted in Morrill helping her neighbors. The next one might require help here in Morrill from others. Pat thanks his crew and appreciates the teamwork of our county firefighters when someone is in need.

Our local firefighters have recently donated many hours of their time being recertified in a number of requirements of the Maine Bureau of Labor Standards. Some examples are fit testing for use of self-contained breathing apparatus, fire extinguisher use and chemical identification and awareness.

Now, about home safety: Are your smoke detectors installed and are the batteries working? There is nothing that can be a better warning to you in case of fire than a well-placed, properly installed, working smoke detector.

Test yours today and monthly. Batteries are cheap compared to a life.

Our Volunteer Fire Department and Ladies Auxiliary always welcome new members.

A big shout out to Rose Dudley, it was so nice to see you the other day and get my hug from you. You stay well and warm.

My mom was going through some of her things and she came across a note I wrote my dad over 40 years ago. I would love to share it with you all:

Daddy his hands are calloused and work worn, his hair is silver gray. He's built a home for seven, with very little pay, His voice is gruff and hard sometimes, But it's mellowed by his smile: I hope someday he'll know from me, His efforts were worthwhile. No one else can ever share the special place he holds: Deep down within my heart, My love for him unfolds. I hope I can repay him for all the things he's done. I haven't much to give him but he'll always have my love.

You all have a awesome week and enjoy your time with your family and friends. Till next time, be warm, be safe.

Quote of the week

Happiness comes a lot easier when you stop complaining about your problem and you start being grateful for all the problems you don't have. -Unknown
