Town meeting & Water District meeting

The annual meeting of the Morrill Village Water District is planned for Saturday, April 17, at 8:30 a.m. at the Morrill Fire Station. Right after this meeting, starting at 9:30 a.m., will be the Morrill town meeting.

Volunteer Fire Department news

On March 29, the department responded to Birches Road in Waldo as mutual aid Engine 32 and Tanker 35 were sent along with six firefighters. Another firefighter remained at our station as stand-by. A cattle barn suffered some damages as well as the loss of some calves.

Our returnable can/bottle collection is doing well. We are banking money for our tanker replacement fund, recycling, and assisting our citizens as they generously help us.

Thank you! The drop-off cage is at the corner of the Fire Station lot. As we can, we will leave large plastic bags there for folks to take for collecting returnables.

Jethro is collecting aluminum can tabs for the Shriners if anyone is willing to save them for him. You can put them in plastic bags or a metal or plastic containers and leave them by the fire station door.

We are looking for a used, road-worthy trailer that we can mount our returnable cage on to transport them with less handling. If you have a trailer that is not being used and you are willing to donate it to the department, call Jethro at 342-5910. Our No. 1 need is always for more volunteers filling various rolls as fire fighters. Second on our list right now is finding a volunteer or two to tape and mud sheet rock in a newly built storage room. Call Pat at 342-2129, Jethro or Dean Rowlands for more information.

Happy birthday to Patty Edgecomb on April 1.

Hope everyone has been enjoying this beautiful weather we have been having. I hope lots more to come.

You all have a beautiful and fun-filled week and hope you all got to go to Simmons and Daughters sugarhouse.

Quote of the week

Sometimes you have to let go of the picture of what you thought life would be like and learn to find joy in the story you are actually living. — Rachel Marie Martin
