There were a couple of errors in the two of the previous articles that I needed to mention. I, apparently, left off some information when thanking people for their help with the auction and the second error was from last week’s article about the Place Reunion. Some of the information about the reunion was placed under the condolences section when it was edited in the newspaper. So, when reading last week’s article, take the second paragraph from the condolences section out and put it at the end of the Place reunion section and it should make a lot more sense.

As for the missing information from the Fireman’s Auction, here it is:

The Fire Chief, Pat Scribner and the Ladies Auxiliary President, Irene Blood, as well as all the fire fighters and auxiliary members would like to thank both businesses and individuals that supported the auction with their products, donations, homemade items, and gift certificates. We could not have raised as much money without their support.

In addition, we would like to thank Morrill General Store and Bruce Benjamin for the hot dogs etc. that he donated and the use of the store front to sell raffle tickets and promote the various fire department functions.

Blood Family Reunion

Sixty family members attended the Rafe and Lucy Blood family reunion at the home of Wendy Blood DaSilva and Carlos DaSilva of Westbrook, Maine. The annual scholarship was awarded to Rafe Young, who is studying Diesel Technology at Universal Technical Institute in Norwood, Massachusetts. He is the son of Ivan and Erika Young of Waldo, Maine and grandson of the late Millard and Hazel Young. He is also the great grandson of Ivory and Hilda Blood Young of Waldo and the great-great grandson of the late Rafe and Lucy Blood of Morrill, Maine.

Hannah Stevenson, daughter of Susan and Gary Stevenson of Navarre, Florida also will be receiving the Rafe and Lucy Blood Family Reunion Scholarship. She is a senior at Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, Florida where she is studying nursing. Hannah is the granddaughter of Robert and Nancy Blood Sampson of Morrill, the great granddaughter of the late Robert and Nellie Blood and the great-great granddaughter of the late Rafe and Lucy Blood of Morrill. The reunion auction, dues, and donations from family members held to defray the costs of the scholarships.

After lunch, a business meeting was held with Becky Blood Vachon presiding. The minutes and Treasurer’s report of the 2013 reunion were read and accepted. Introductions of the families and gifts to the following were given: Oldest Man—Norman Blood of Uxbridge, MA (80); Oldest Woman—Edna Blood of Belfast, ME (82); Youngest Child—Lawrence Paradis, son of James and Kahsi Paradis of Newfield, ME (3 months); Largest Family—Archie Blood Family with seventeen family members in attendance; Traveled the farthest—Norman Blood and his daughter, Rhonda, of Uxbridge, MA. Seven of the original thirteen children had family members present and each gave a report on their family.

Many families wore their reunion shirts and many more were ordered for the next reunion. The 2015 reunion will be held in Standish, Maine, at the home of Julie and Jon Trimmer. Julie is the daughter of Bill and Becky Blood Vachon of Morrill.

The final event of the day was the annual horseshoe tournament that was won by Shery Blood Berk of Poland, Maine and Carlos DaSilva of Westbrook, Maine.
