Belmont — A motorcyclist was taken to the hospital June 7 after being hit by a pickup truck at the intersection of Route 131 and Lincolnville Road.

Police reported that Dwayne Sambrook, 49, of Belmont was driving his motorcycle east on Route 3 and turned right onto Lincolnville Road as Kenneth Lambertson, 35, of Hampden was pulling his pickup truck forward from a stop sign at the head of Route 131 just south of Route 3, where the pickup truck hit the motorcycle.

Sambrook was treated by paramedics at the scene for a possible broken leg, according to a written police report from Waldo County Sheriff's Office. He was taken from the scene by ambulance. Lambertson was not injured.

Waldo County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Jason Trundy said the crash was unlikely to result in charges for either driver, in part because Sambrook was driving east before he turned onto Lincolnville Road.

"It's a little more blind coming from that direction for both of the drivers," Trundy said.

After the crash, paramedics attended to Sambrook for 15 minutes as he lay in the road before lifting him onto a stretcher and into an ambulance.

Belmont Fire Chief Ron Harford, who responded at the scene along with Belfast fire and ambulance, said it appeared that Sambrook may have "laid down" his bike in an attempt to avoid a more serious collision.

(Editor's note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated Sambrook's direction of travel before the crash.)

This revised story on the motorcycle accident is completely false and not correct. This does not match the police report and no one seems to know where Mr. Andrews got his information. This has been a very stressful time and it's not bad enough that photos of an injured man were displayed for all to see but then to read this story... You should recheck your information and revise the story again at very least admired the wrong and untrue story here!

Shame on Village Soup!
