Thorndike — Mount View High School sent off 102 graduates in ceremony Sunday, June 11. Principal Zackary Freeman and Superintendent Paul Austin bid the class of 2017 farewell with heartfelt speeches.

Valedictorian Cameron Morin of Troy spoke next, asking his fellow graduates "for one final moment to just stay here together." He also prompted a round of applause for his mother who served as class adviser. Morin will be attending University of Maine at Farmington, where he will be studying mathematics.

Salutatorian Kevin Richards, who will be attending Unity College to study wildlife biology in the fall, spoke as well, giving students inspirational advice to "get in to the ring," and live life to the fullest.

The class of 2017 collectively won more than $100,000 in scholarships. Freeman announced the recipients, as well as the students who would be joining the military, for recognition before handing out diplomas with Austin, Board of Directors Chairman Myrick Cross, and Assistant Principal Thomas Lynch.
