Three figure skaters from MRC’s Learn to Skate Program participated in the US Figure Skating testing session in Augusta Feb. 17th. Brynn Kooyenga, Jenna Taylor and Lexi Tinch tested for Moves in the Field and Freeskate programs. All three did a beautiful job, passing all of the tests they attempted. Brynn Kooyenga and Jenna Taylor passed their Pre-Juvenile Moves in the Field and Pre-Juvenile Freeskate. Lexi Tinch successfully completed her Pre-Juvenile Moves and Preliminary Freeskate.

US Figure Skating’s skills testing structure is the ladder through which figure skaters advance from one level to the next. The testing session is held only once during the winter skating season in this area. A skater must complete standardized moves--or skate a freeskate program with specified elements of jumps, spins and footwork--alone on the ice in front of a panel of official judges. This process takes skaters years of training and commitment, and particularly for young skaters such as Brynn, Jenna and Lexi, demands great poise under pressure.

MRC would like to congratulate these skaters on their wonderful accomplishment and invites the community to come see these three talented young skaters, along with the many other gifted skaters in our Learn to Skate Program, at the upcoming skate show "All Around the World" on March 23, 4pm, at MRC in Rockport.
