Rockport — The Midcoast Recreation Center was well represented at the annual Maine Tennis Association awards banquet on Saturday, May 18 in Portland.

Tennis pros, high school coaches, players and team captains were honored for their accomplishments in 2018.

Seth Meyer, MRC tennis director and head pro received a special recognition award for his work at MRC and around the state. Meyer also received the 2018 Humanitarian Award, along with his father, and MRC tennis pro, Bruce Meyer. They received recognition, in large part, due to the annual “Serving To End World Hunger” benefit tournament.

Former Camden Hills Regional High School boys tennis coach Noah Capetta and current Windjammer girls coach Judith Lydon took home high school tennis coaches of the year awards for 2018. Capetta also was honored with a junior development award and adult sportsperson of the year.

Bob Grant, who captains several of MRC’s United States Tennis Association adult league teams, received the 2018 captain of the year award.

Josh Chun, the number one singles player for Belfast Area High School, was awarded the junior sportsperson of the year award.
