Friends of Sears Island host a free mushroom walk led by David Porter, a former University of Georgia plant biology professor whose specialty is mycology, the study of mushrooms and other fungi. Learn basics of mushroom identification and signs of hidden underground activities of mushrooms and other fungi that contribute to forest ecology. Meet at Sears Island gate kiosk. Wear appropriate footwear and clothing. Bring water, a snack and insect repellent. No pets.

In the event of steady rain, the program will be cancelled. For more information and updates, visit, or call Ashley at 207-975-3878.
