Mustang, Mariner, Windjammer athletes stick with late-season games

Mount View tops Oceanside, Camden Hills beats Lewiston

The Mount View field hockey team continues to climb the rungs of the Class C North ladder, while Camden Hills and Oceanside looked up their regional ladders toward playoff contention at the conclusion of games played Saturday and Monday, Sept. 29-Oct. 1.

The Mustangs swung to a 4-0 win over Oceanside on Saturday in Thorndike, while Camden Hills fell 6-0 against Skowhegan, the top-ranked team in Class A North.

Camden Hills then responded with a 5-0 home win over Lewiston on Monday, Oct. 1 at Point Lookout in Northport.

The following is a recap of reported results:

Camden Hills 5, Lewiston 0

At Rockport Oct. 1, the Windjammers jammed to their third win of the season via shutout over the Blue Devils. Camden Hills led 2-0 at halftime.

Leading the Windjammer scoring attack was Lulu Lydon (goal, assist), Maggie Blemaster (goal), Greta Bishop (goal), Kyla Taylor (goal), Meredith Luce (goal), Capri Buck (assist) and Ashlee McIntosh (assist).

Vickie Balla made eight saves in goal for Camden Hills, while Ashley Cronkite made nine saves for Lewiston.

In the Maine Principals' Association Heal Point Standings for Class A North, Camden Hills (3-7-1, 17.5510 points) is ninth, while Skowhegan (11-0, 110.9184 points) is first in the 12-team region. The top eight teams qualify for the playoffs.

Mount View 4, Oceanside 0

At Thorndike Sept. 29, the Mustangs galloped past the Mariners and to their fifth win in six games. Mount View led 1-0 at halftime.

Leading the Mount View offense were Maddy Knowlton (3 goals), Devon Burgess (2 assists), Brianna Tripp (assist) and Kate Bourgeois (goal).

Thurston Illingworth played in goal for Mount View, while Alexa Barstow made 22 saves on 26 shots in the cage for Oceanside.

In the jayvee game, Mount View earned a 3-1 win. Alexa Coffin scored two goals for the Mustangs and Sena Hayes one.

In the Maine Principals’ Association Heal Point Standings for Class B North, Oceanside (2-8, 9.5918 points) is 14th, while Gardiner (10-1, 93.8776 points) is first in the 15-team region. The top 10 teams qualify for the playoffs.

In the Maine Principals’ Association Heal Point Standings for Class C North, Mount View (6-5, 32.0408 points) is fourth, while Winthrop (11-0, 104.2857 points) is first in the 11-team region. The top eight teams qualify for the playoffs.

Skowhegan 6, Camden Hills 0

At Skowhegan Sept. 29, the top-ranked Indians blanked the Windjammers. Skowhegan led 5-0 at halftime.

Emily Reichenbach scored two goals for the hosts and Elizabeth York, Kayla Furbush, Brooklyn Hubbard and Alexis Michonski one.
