Mustangs break out offensive show in win over Black Bears

Readfield — It has been a tough go of it for the Maranacook field hockey team this season as the Black Bears, winless on the campaign, hosted Mount View of Thorndike with the end of the regular season in sight.

The Mustangs, which will be playoff-bound in the Class C North, swung over .500 on the high school season as they posted a 7-0 victory on Thursday, Oct. 6.

It is the 12th time in 13 games the Black Bears have been shutout this season, with their lone goal scored in an 11-1 loss to Belfast on Sept. 22.

On Thursday, the Mount View offense was led by Michelle Bilodeau (goal), Reanna Boulay (2 goals), Rachelle Ravin (assist), Maddy Knowlton (goal), Brianna Tripp (goal, assist), Jessie Blanchette (goal), McKenna Gibbs (assist) and Ashlee Hamel (goal).

In the Maine Principals’ Association Heal Point Standings for Class C North, Mount View (7-6, 46.8367 points) is sixth, while Maine Central Institute  of Pittsfield (11-2, 106.9898 points) is first in the 11-team region. The top eight teams qualify for the playoffs.
