Mustangs stay in saddle for high-scoring, winning ways

Fowler, Coffin tally two goals against Erskine Academy

Thorndike — The Mount View field hockey team has gotten off to a stellar start to the shortened 2020 campaign, including on Thursday, Oct. 15, when the Mustangs continued to score goals in droves against visiting Erskine Academy of South China in a convincing, 6-0 high school victory.

Mount View (5-1) led 1-0 after the first quarter and 4-0 at the end of the second and third stanzas.

Leading the Mustang offense were Macy Fowler (2 goals, assist), Alexa Coffin (2 goals), Sophia King (assist), Sophia King (goal) and Dakota Jones (goal).

Ella Sawyer made three saves on three shots in the cage for the ‘Stangs, while Emily York made 23 saves on 30 shots in goal for the Eagles.

In six games this fall, the Mustangs have outscored opponents 32-2, with their lone loss to Waldo County rival Belfast 1-0.

In the junior varsity game, the schools battled to a 1-1 tie.
