Daniel Day-Lewis famously submerged himself in the role of Irish writer Christy Brown, born with cerebral palsy, during the filming of “My Left Foot.”

Belfast — The Irish Page to Screen discussion series at Belfast Free Library will meet to discuss Christy Brown’s autobiography “My Left Foot” Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 6:30 p.m. The film version will be shown Thursday, Sept. 4, 6:30 p.m. at the library, 106 High St. Directed by Jim Sheridan and released in 1991, the film includes an Oscar-winning performance by Daniel Day-Lewis.

The series is facilitated by Del Hickey and David Andrews, retired Ph.D. academics who embraced the Irish culture while living and working in Ireland for six years. They fell in love with the “craic,” the music, the literature and the films.
