The Xcel gymnastics team represented the North Atlantic Gymnastics Academy this past weekend at the Alfond Youth Center in Waterville. This event was hosted by Decal Gymnastics of Waterville. NAGA had multiple individual event state champions and an all-around champion in the Bronze Division.

Lillian Dailey, 11, of Camden, placed third on both balance beam and floor exercise with scores of 7.9 and 8.275, respectively. Dailey placed fourth all-around with a 32.775.

Alley Johnson, 10, of Lincolnville, placed first on vault (8.925), first on uneven bars (8.9), and second on floor exercise (8.5). Johnson placed second all-around with a score of 33.925.

Rose OʼBrien, 10, of Lincolnville, finished first all-around with a score of 34.5 and won the floor exercise individual event title with a score of 8.750. OʼBrien placed second on vault (8.9), uneven bars (8.65), and balance beam (8.2).

Our team had many personal bests. Johnson, Dailey, and OʼBrien bested their floor exercise and all-around scores. Johnson also had personal bests on vault and uneven bars. OʼBrien bested her previous meet scores on all events. Our Bronze Team placed first in the state with a score of 101.2. Congratulations to our state champions!

The Xcel Program is designed to offer a broad-based, affordable competitive experience outside the traditional Jr. Olympic Program to attract and retain a diverse group of athletes. The Excel gymnastics team is coached by Kathy Kandziolka.

Congratulations to all the NAGA team girls for a great 2013-2014 season!
