Belfast — Kendra Caruso is the newest addition to The Republican Journal staff. She is joining the team as a staff reporter covering Belfast City Council and several towns in northern Waldo County.

Caruso is a recent graduate of the University of Maine’s journalism program. The Republican Journal is her first full-time job with a local newspaper.

A Maine native of the greater Bangor area, Caruso has family roots in the regions that extend back many generations.

She has worked previously with Down East Magazine and The Maine Campus.

“I hope to expand upon my experience in college and improve my craft to offer people a meaningful news experience,” she said.

When she's not writing news, Caruso has a passion for telling stories through photography and cinematography. “I took several multimedia storytelling classes in college and thoroughly enjoyed the discipline," she said. "I hope to continue digital storytelling and improve upon what I’ve already learned.”

She hopes to keep the Journal readers informed about important topics that are meaningful and have an impact on the Waldo County area.

“I’m excited to start my career in this small coastal region. There is a lot to write about here and I’m excited to become familiar with the community and hopefully have a positive impact,” Caruso said.

Welcome. I've got plenty of material about the Council and senior City officials to keep you busy. The age of unaccountability is over.
