New stores offer handmade gifts, homegrown remedies

Grand opening of 1 Mill July 14

East Belfast — Three new businesses are opening in Belfast, all under one roof at 1 Mill Lane.

Paul T. McCarrier, owner of 1 Mill, describes the property as a "unique space that has three distinct stores. "

"It offers something for everyone," he said in a press release announcing the grand opening Saturday, July 14.

“Each shop has unique products, all made in Maine," McCarrier said. "We are focused on artisan crafts and locally sourced products. After seeing the demand for a store where patients could access both CBD and THC, my partner, Carole Quigley, and I decided it was time to open a store.”

The three stores at 1 Mill are:

- Dryad Threads, which produces high-quality one-of-a-kind clothing and gifts;

- Healthy Alternatives, which offers CBD salves, tinctures and gummies to help with everyday life; and

- Puffin Relief, the caregiver onsite who provides patients with one-on-one care and access to the artisan medical cannabis flower, oils and edibles.

The Medicine Farm co-founder Quinton Stevens-Palmer will be in attendance to offer education about hemp and its benefits. One of the first industrial hemp cultivators in Maine, Stevens-Palmer won the first-place award for highest CBD flower in the “High 95” Cannabis cup in 2017.

The grand opening of 1 Mill on July 14 will feature live glassblowing, educational seminars about the benefits of CBD, and give-aways throughout the day.
