New year, format for Belfast Free Sketchers

Dec 31, 2017

Belfast — The Belfast Free Sketchers, Belfast Free Library’s sketchbook journaling group, will meet Tuesday, Jan. 9, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Abbott Room of the library, 106 High St. The group is free, open to the public and welcomes new participants of all levels of experience.

Sketchers bring their own materials and enjoy showing and talking about their drawings, writing and related art. Telling stories, sharing creative process and lots of laughing occurs in an encouraging and enthusiastic atmosphere. There also is free time for informal sharing and creating, and sketchers follow individual directions.

The group has a new format. Instead of one facilitator, members will take turns leading meetings. For January's meeting, artist Leslie Miller invites participants to bring any and all brushes that they own for trying out and demonstrating.

Winter/spring meetings will occur on second Tuesdays, Feb. 13, March 13, April 10 and May 8. For more information, call the library at 338-3884, ext. 10.
