News Feature Video - COVID-19 Update - March 25, 2020

Dr. Mark Eggena, Chief Medical Officer for Pen Bay Medical Center and an expert on infectious diseases, talked to us today about the developing situation with COVID-19.

He stresses the importance of continued social distancing and safety precautions including hand-washing. He also noted Pen Bay Medical Center and Waldo County General have increased their capacity to deal with a higher number of patients should there be a surge as a result of the pandemic.

Residents concerned that they have symptoms are urged to call their primary care doctor first unless they are having an emergency and need immediate help. Even when going to the emergency department, please call ahead.

The hospital has set up primary care finder lines for those who need a primary care doctor and do not have one. Those are:

Pen Bay Medical Center: 207-301-8200

Waldo County General Hospital: 207-505-4027

If interested in donating masks and/or gloves, please contact Director of Community Health Improvement Rachael McCormick at 207-301-3957.
