LINCOLNVILLE — Kate Braestrup will host a free screening, followed by a discussion, of the film “Officer Involved” on Wednesday, April 17 at 7 p.m. at the Lincolnville Community Library, 208 Main St.

This documentary, filmed by Georgia police officer Patrick Shaver, features interviews with law enforcement officers who tell of their experiences after being involved in a shooting. Over the course of two years, Shaver and his wife traveled across the United States and talked to nearly 100 police officers to learn more about what they went through psychologically and emotionally following a shooting. Critics have called the film thoughtful and gripping, a realistic portrayal of the humanity of law enforcement officers.

Braestrup is the chaplain for the Maine Warden Service and also the author of several books, including the bestselling “Here If You Need Me.” Her first husband, Drew Griffith, was a Maine state trooper who was killed in a car accident while on duty in 1996. She now lives in Lincolnville with her husband, artist Simon van der Ven.

Space for this program is limited and will be filled on a first come, first served basis. For more information, call 706-3896 or e-mail questions@lincolnvillelibrary.org.
