Waterville — The Islesboro basketball teams — back on the court after a brief hiatus — have contended for victories as the train that is the 2019-20 high school season continued to chug along.

The Eagles played twice in two days Friday and Saturday, Jan. 3-4, against Temple Academy of Waterville and Rangeley, as the islanders ended the weekend with a combined 0-4 mark.

On the girls side, the Eagles fell 44-10 in a road game at Temple Academy on Saturday and lost 82-11 on Friday in a home game with Rangeley, while on the boys side, the Eagles were downed 72-32 on Saturday by the Bereans and lost 67-33 on Friday to the Lakers.

The Islesboro boys were not able to field a team the last two seasons — and the girls last season — due to lack of players. So the Eagles are happy to back on the court, even if with smaller squads.
