Oshima Brothers concert benefits Al-Matrouk memorial, scholarship

Jan 06, 2020

Belfast — The Oshima Brothers, along with opening band The Fowlers, perform a concert on Thursday, Jan. 9, at 6 p.m. at The Bazz, 17 Court St., to benefit the Laila Al-Matrouk Memorial and Scholarship. All are welcome. A donation of $10 is suggested for admission.

Food from Belfast restaurants Chases’ Daily and Laan Xang will be available for purchase during intermission.

The concert is one of a number of fundraising efforts by Belfast residents to create a memorial to honor beloved peacemaker, activist, singer, actor, athlete and friend Laila Al-Matrouk. The memorial will be centered around a beautiful Japanese lilac tree and two granite benches in Heritage Park in Belfast with a handcrafted bronze plaque dedicated to her memory. All proceeds from the event will go toward the memorial and any additional funds to the Laila Al-Matrouk scholarship fund.
