Belfast — Belfast Dental Care and several other local businesses have joined forces to host Spring Fling, a party to raise funds for the Tuition Assistance Program at Cornerspring Montessori School, Saturday night, May 26, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the United Farmer’s Market of Maine, 18 Spring St.

The event, featuring live music by local favorites the Oshima Brothers, is the largest fundraiser of the year for Cornerspring and funds the majority of its tuition assistance budget. The ability to offer tuition assistance to families who need it is very important, said Sue Beemer, Cornerspring’s head of school.

“We want access to a Montessori education to be available to everyone, because we truly believe that it sets children up to be thoughtful, engaged adults who will become the next generation of community builders,” Beemer said.

Belfast Dental Care is a major sponsor for the event, underwriting a significant portion of the evening’s cost so that proceeds can go directly to the tuition assistance program. Other local businesses that have contributed include Little River Veterinary Clinic, Front Street Shipyard and Total Property Care.

“Cornerspring has been a big part of our life in Belfast,” said Allison Piper, owner and DMD at Belfast Dental Care. “The education our kids receive is second-to-none, and if we can make that experience more accessible for other local families, it’s our privilege to do that.”

Mareisa Weil, whose twin toddlers participated in Cornerspring’s Puffin classroom for children 18 to 36 months old, said she was grateful for the assistance her family received last year.

“As a family just starting out, with limited means, it was huge for us. Our boys have flourished there and it’s introduced us to a great community,” she said.

Spring Fling sponsorships can be made by businesses or individuals and will be celebrated and promoted at the event. Sponsorships are the most significant source of revenue for the event, and are completely tax deductible.

In addition to music, there will be an auction, food and cash bar. Tickets to Spring Fling are $15 in advance, $20 the day of the event. They can be purchased at the school.
