Belfast — Our Town Belfast has hired Sasha Breus as its marketing and events coordinator. "This new position will support ongoing efforts to sustain the successes downtown Belfast has witnessed in the past decade," Executive Director Zach Schmesser said in a news release March 12.

Breus joined the staff March 6. According to Schmesser, she "brings years of experience in communications and organization."

"Sasha’s role will help increase the impact of our mission to grow and sustain Belfast’s historic downtown while celebrating our unique cultural heritage,” he said in the news release.

As marketing coordinator, Breus will share and promote the work of Our Town Belfast and its partners with residents, visitors and other stakeholders. In the events coordinator role, she will assist with new and established events, including the organization's inaugural Restaurant Week, planned for April 22-28.

Breus will also support and strengthen Our Town Belfast’s volunteer base, and further develop the Partners Program, which connects local businesses with the organization.

Breus has a geology degree from Smith College, and a master’s degree in environmental studies from Antioch University New England. She also operates a small consulting business that assists with nonprofit evaluations, developmental editing, and grant writing.

Breus moved back to Maine in fall 2017. In addition to being a staff member at Our Town Belfast, she volunteers at The Game Loft.
