Belfast — Randall Collins VFW Post 3108, 34 Field St., served 112 meals to veterans in need Saturday, May 9, according to Operations Manager Jim Roberts.

The No Greater Love food Pantry donated fresh fruits and vegetables as well as meats, and Waldo County Pet Food Pantry added food for pets to the event.

Post 3108 partnered with 222 Cares, Waldo County Pet Food Pantry, and No Greater Love Food Pantry, with financial support from the New England Patriots Foundation, and donated boxes of food to area veterans.

The packages contain nonperishable foods and nutritionist-developed recipes to provide three meals a day for two people for 14 days. According to Post 3108's Facebook page, even 94-year-old, three-war veteran Carmine Pecorreli was put to work registering people as cars filed in.
