Participate in the 70th Maine Lobster Festival Parade

The Maine Lobster Festival is celebrating 70 years, and we need parade participants to join the party.

This year’s theme is “70 Years of the Maine Lobster Festival.” Come out and help spread the excitement this year at the Big Parade. There is never a fee to participate in the parade. The only thing required is creativity.

What do you want to celebrate? Wooden traps? Oil slickers? Say Happy 70th Anniversary to the Lobster Festival this year in the most creative way you can. Any groups and organizations that wish to participate can download an application at http://www.mainelobsterfestival.com/main-events/big-parade/. An application may also be requested by emailing parade@mainelobsterfestival.com.

The Big Parade will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 5, on Rockland’s Main Street. This year it will feature the Grand Marshal, the Sea Princesses and their escorts, and the newly crowned 2017 Maine Sea Goddess. King Neptune and his court will also be making an appearance. Bands, marching units, and drill teams, along with different floats will be there as well, to ensure an entertaining and lively parade.

This year’s Parade Grand Marshal is Lois Stackpole Ally, retired head of Meals on Wheels of Rockland.
