Thorndike — Patricia “Patty” Banker, 81, passed away Nov. 17, 2020. Patty was born March 16, 1939, to Lauriston Sr., and Harriet Hustus. Patty was born in Brooks and lived there until age 4, when her family moved to Thorndike.

Patty was a talented writer and painter who loved horses and spending time with her family. She published two novels telling the story of the fictional Farewell’s Corner, which many would say resembles Thorndike.

Patty was predeceased by her parents, her husband Richard Banker, her sister Lois Austin, her brother Lauriston Hustus Jr., and her three brothers-in-law, Everett Williams, Ernest Austin and Darwin Ludden. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Cathy Banker; her sisters, Inez Williams and Jacquie Ludden; her grandchildren, Todd Lawrey and his family and Alan Kunesh and his family; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday Nov. 23, at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast. Visiting hours will be 10 to 11 a.m., at which time the funeral prayer service will begin. Burial at Center Cemetery in Thorndike will immediately follow.

State of Maine guidelines require that all those in attendance wear face coverings and if you have traveled outside of the state of Maine in the last 14 days, you will not be allowed inside the building. We kindly ask that if you suspect that you have been exposed to COVID-19, are feeling unwell or show any symptoms of COVID-19, you do not attend any of Patty’s services.
