Penobscot Bay Singers begins 44th season

Sep 08, 2017

Belfast — Penobscot Bay Singers has begun rehearsing for the group's 2017-2018 season. Rehearsals will continue on Wednesday evenings at 7 in the Parish Hall of St. Margaret's Episcopal Church, 100 Court St.

The first concert cycle will be Dec. 9 and 10, with the singers presenting “A Child’s Christmas in Wales,” using Dylan Thomas's text and complementary music.

The group is actively seeking new singers and asking previous singers from any past season to return. All ages and voice parts are welcome. To audition, singers should plan to attend the Sept. 13 rehearsal, sing through the rehearsal and then meet with director Richard M. Dostie. He will ask auditioners to sing a few scales to place their voices, and they will mutually decide if Pen Bay Singers is a good fit.

Cost is $50 for the season (three concerts). The concert dates for 2017-2018 season are Dec. 9 and 10, 2017; March 24 and 25, 2018; and June 15 and 16, 2018. Singers may choose to sing one, two or all three concerts. Interested vocalists may contact the group at
