Penquis RSVP Calling on Summer Visitors

All of a sudden the towns in Knox, Lincoln and Waldo are full of cars with out-of-state license plates.  Penquis Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) says welcome to both our “snowbirds” and our first time summer visitors!   We are happy to see you and hope you enjoy your stay in mid-coast Maine!

If you are staying a few weeks or longer, we would like to extend an invitation for you to get involved in the community through volunteer opportunities.  By sharing your time with one of our various community organizations, you can learn more about the mid-coast area and gain the satisfaction of knowing you are helping a local organization.   Many of our local organizations are in need of extra help during the summer time as their attendance is increasing and their regular volunteers take time off of their own.

Working specifically with volunteers who are 55 years of age or older, RSVP has a number of great volunteer opportunities where a short term contribution of time and talent would be welcomed.  We can introduce you to the local transportation museum with its incredible collection of vintage cars and airplanes or a local organization that works for folks who live on the many islands of Maine.  Perhaps you would like to work with elders in an assisted living facility, or help at a 4H exhibit at a local fair.  We can make it happen for you!

Interested visitors and locals interested in short term volunteer opportunities should contact Cheryl at Penquis RSVP at 794-2432 or stop in at 315 Main Street in Rockland.  We would be most happy to meet you and appreciate your interest.

RSVP is trying to recruit summer visitors, but they will not accept a local knitting group that knits for charity  to be members.
