Apr 12, 2021

Belfast — In honor of National Poetry Month, two Local Color artists exhibit their poems alongside their art during the month of April.

Leslie Moore, poet and printmaker, shows poems with her relief prints of animals. Her recent work features birds and is influenced by Japanese woodblock prints. Her poems and prose have appeared in English Journal, Take Heart, The Maine Review, The Catch, Café Review, Balancing Act 2, Deep Water, Wait: Poems from the Pandemic, and Artword.

Debbie Mitchell, poet and painter, began writing 40 years ago, studying with Jack Grapes and others. Her writing has appeared in truth and lies that press for life, Stone in My Pocket, Onthebus, and others. Mitchell began studying painting in 2009, and her focus has been on oil painting for the last 10 years.

Local Color Gallery is located at 135 High St., and is open Wednesdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visit localcolorgallerymaine.com for more information.
