Poets Corner plans readings Aug. 9 on Zoom

Celebrated tattooist, Latin teacher and author of the memoir "Sigh, Gone," Phuc Tran will be among the readers on The Poets Corner (thepoetscorner.org) on Sunday, Aug. 9, from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

Other readers of short prose and prose poetry for this Zoom event will include Eric Evans, a prose poet and author of "Conversations with the Horizon"; Judy O'Dell, reading from her recently published "Goose River Field Notes"; Peter Imber, journalist and essayist; and Lucinda Ziesing, actor, poet and prose writer.

The Poets Corner is a platform created to foster community among writers and readers of poetry and short prose. Founded by former Maine Media Workshops and college president Meg Weston and author/writing coach Kathrin Seitz, The Poets Corner is based in Midcoast Maine, and hosts virtual readings on the second Sunday of each month.

Upcoming readings on The Poets Corner this fall: Sunday, Sept. 13, with former Maine poet laureate Betsy Sholl and author, teacher and NEA fellow Éirann Lorsung, along with other poets.

Mark Burrows will host the reading on Sunday, Oct. 11, with poets from the British Isles.
