Rockland — The results are in from the most recent Courier Publications/VillageSoup sports poll.

In the latest poll, we asked how the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees American League Divisional Series would be decided, and the majority felt the Sox would win, and the majority proved correct.

The majority was wrong, though, in how many games it would take Boston to beat New York, since the Sox won the series in four games with a 4-3 victory over the Yankees on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at Yankee Stadium.

Sixty percent of voters thought Boston would win in five games, while 20 percent thought the Red Sox would lose in five games.

Another 20 percent of voters were correct, as they picked Boston to win the series in four games.

This week our poll stays on the topic of the Red Sox, as Boston advances to the American League Championship Series against the Houston Astros.

In our newest poll, we ask how the Red Sox series against Houston will be decided.

There are more options to choose from in the latest poll, since the series will be seven games and start on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 8 p.m. at Fenway Park in Boston.

This time, the voter has options including: Win in seven games, win in six games, win in five games, win in four games, lose in seven games, lose in six games, lose in five games and lose in four games.

The poll will run through the first two games of the series and then we will debut a new poll, so be sure to vote in a timely fashion.

Sox have a loooong way to go to win 27 World Championships. My friends in the Bronx felt sorry for them. (Uh-oh, here comes the hate mail!) Have pity on me, folks, my roots are in the Bronx. But I DO root for the Sox--unless they're playing NYY. Can't fault me for that.
