The college basketball seasons have come to a close, as has the latest Courier Publications/VillageSoup sports poll.

In the most recent poll, the sports staff asked: Which National Collegiate Athletic Association Final Four men's basketball team do you believe will win the national championship?

Sixty-nine-point-two percent of responses believed Michigan State would capture the title, while the other 30.8 percent chose Virginia. Auburn and Texas Tech, the other final four teams, did not receive a vote.

The 30.8 percent of voters which picked Virginia proved to be correct, as the Cavaliers defeated the Red Raiders of Texas Tech 85-77 in overtime on Monday, April 8 for its first national title in school history.

Virginia and Texas Tech were in the national championship game for the first time in the schools' history.

This week, the sports poll shifts its focus back to a New England sports team, and with it, one that has struggled out of the gate, namely, the Boston Red Sox.

As of April 10, Boston sports a 3-9 record, which leads the sports staff to its newest poll: How many wins do you believe the Red Sox will finish the regular season with?
