‘POP-UP’ at The Playhouse

Artwork by: Karin Spitfire Book arts and poetry at The Playhouse in Belfast will raise funds for the Penobscot Nation’s fight for jurisdiction over a portion of the river that bears its name.

Belfast — Artist and poet Karin Spitfire will hold a “POP-UP” studio sale and poetry reading Sunday, Nov. 19, from noon to 5 p.m. at The Playhouse, 107 Church St. The event will raise money for the Penobscot Nation’s ongoing legal battle over the water in the Penobscot River.

On sale will be a variety of handmade blank books for journaling, one-of-a-kind artist books, small edition artist books, letterpress posters and handmade cards. At 3 p.m., Spitfire, along with poets Kathryn Robyn, Betsy Headley, Barbaria Maria and Meredith Bruskin, will read.
